Volubilis is a Carthaginian and Roman archaeological site established around 400 BC. As a UNESCO World Heritage site and Moroccan cultural heritage, it ranks as one of the most looked-up sights in Morocco. The ruins span an area of 0.42 square kilometers, preserving the remains of an ancient city.

Planning a visit

The climate at Volubilis varies throughout the year. Summers are hot, with daily highs of 33 °C in July and August. Winters are cooler and wetter, with December receiving 108 mm of rain over about 7 days. Spring months such as April and May, with temperatures ranging from 21 °C to 24 °C and significantly less rain, are suitable for walking through the site. Autumn is also mild, with October highs of 25 °C.

Travelers can reach the site by flying into Fes Saïss International Airport, located 55 km away. The site is 118 km from the capital, Rabat. Because of its location, visitors often combine a trip to Volubilis with nearby points of interest.
