The Wieliczka Salt Mine is an architectural heritage monument and mine in Poland. It is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the Wieliczka and Bochnia Royal Salt Mines and dates back to the 13th century. It is one of the most looked-up sights in Poland.

Planning a visit

The mine is open Monday through Sunday from 07:30 to 19:30. The entry price is 143 zł, and the site is wheelchair accessible. Because the mine is underground, visits are possible throughout the year regardless of the weather conditions above ground, which range from daily lows of -6 °C in January to highs of 23 °C in July.

The site is located at ul. Daniłowicza 10 in Wieliczka. The nearest airport is Kraków John Paul II International Airport in Balice, 22 km away. The mine is 259 km from Warsaw. For those exploring the area, the mine can be combined with visits to Kazimierz, Wawel Castle, and Kraków Old Town, all located between 11 km and 12.2 km away, or the Bochnia Salt Mine, which is 25.9 km away.
