The Burj Al Arab is a 321-meter tower block and hotel located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Designed by architect Tom Wright in a distinctive high-tech and postmodern style, the structure opened in 1999. It is one of the most looked-up sights in the United Arab Emirates.

Planning a visit

The cooler months from December to March are typically the most comfortable time for a visit, with daily high temperatures ranging from 23 °C to 27 °C and rainfall occurring on about 2 to 3 days per month. In contrast, the summer months of June, July, and August see daily high temperatures rise to 39 °C or 40 °C with little to no rain. The nearest airport is Dubai International Airport, which is located 22 km from the site. Travelers arriving from the capital, Abu Dhabi, will need to travel 111 km to reach the location.

Visitors often combine a trip to the hotel with visits to nearby locations. Jumeirah Beach is 3.4 km away, and the Palm Islands are 6 km from the site. Further inland, the Burj Khalifa is 10.9 km away, while both the Emirates Towers and the Museum of the Future are located 13 km from the hotel. Guests planning an overnight stay should note that prices start at over US$1800 per night after taxes and fees.
